Installing Your Free CountVisitors.com Hit Counter
Installing your hit counter is a simple 4-step process. It should take two minutes or less and should start functioning from the moment you upload your page.
Step 1: Sign up for our free hit counter service by entering the website that the counter will appear on into the box on our home page, setting your preferences, and choosing one of our counter styles.
Step 2: Press the "Get Counter Code" button at the bottom of the page and you will be presented with a text box containing your individual counter code. Copy the html code by highlighting it all with your mouse and selecting 'edit --> copy' from the top of the browser window. You can also do this by clicking anywhere within the box, pressing 'control a' to select the code, and then pressing 'control c' to copy it.
Step 3: Open your web page in an html editor, or if you are using an online hosting service, follow their directions for editing the code of the page. IMPORTANT: You need to be sure that you are editing the code and not just pasting text onto your page. Determine where you would like your counter to appear, and paste the hit counter code into your document. This is done by selecting 'edit --> paste' from your browser, right clicking on your mouse and selecting paste, or pressing 'control v'. Please be aware that it may appear as though there is a broken image in your counter. This is normal if you have not yet saved or uploaded your document, and will fix itself as soon as you have!
Step 4: Save and upload (if needed) your document, and take a look at it. Your counter should appear on your page.
Make sure that you are also able to see the corresponding advertisement that goes with your counter. While you may use any formatting techniques that you would like to place the counter and ad, including tables, divs, and other assorted html items, it is important that the ad appears as it was provided to you. If it does not, please try and paste the code again. If we are not able to verify that the ad is showing as it should, we will have to disable your account.
